Memorial Day

Every Memorial Day we have a BBQ activity with our church. There's always lots of food and fun. The kids loved sliding on the giant slip n slide down the hill. 

 Tommy couldn't figure it out, so Barrett would throw him down...he loved it.

By the end, we told him he had to try it on his own. He was so proud when he'd go just a little ways. He even started spinning and going backwards.

Cousins!

My cousins came to visit this last weekend. We had a blast!! We loved having them here chatting, catching up, reminiscing, going to the beach, eating the best spaghetti and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, playing, snuggling sweet girls, super hero-ing it up, and loving being with family!! Like always, I didn't take as many pictures as I thought.

 Tommy wasn't really interested in the water this time, but he sure wanted to make a sand castle!

 Damon loved the waves! He told me he went under the water 3 times and one time almost died. Barrett said he was pretty nervous he lost him once, but then he surfaced. 

 We loved these little girls...except one is missing from my pictures.

 Barrett buried these boys a billion times. They thought it was so fun! An older couple nearby loved watching them and the lady even took a picture of them like this:)

Tommy played really well with his cousin...they loved super heroes and building and pretending.

Last Day of Preschool

Wednesday was Damon's last day of Preschool. He has grown a lot this last year. He lost his first tooth, learned to ride a bike, can tie his own shoes, doesn't freak out quite as much when an adult isn't around, learned to read, can draw tiny intricate drawings, can write tiny very legible letters (he has better handwriting than his dad!!), has grown at least 1 1/2 inches (according to his teachers), and gained a few pounds. I'm not sure he really learned anything new at preschool because he went in knowing a lot, but he sure loved it. He is soooo excited for Kindergarten now!! I'm a little sad there was no Preschool graduation, but I know I would've lost it, so kinda grateful. I had to try really hard to keep from crying a few times:)

Look who lost a tooth!!

Damon's two lower bottom teeth have been loose for quite awhile now. His "grown up teeth" even started coming in but he would not pull that little puppy out! Dad joked with him that he was a shark and growing 2 rows of teeth! One morning I was helping Damon brush his teeth and couldn't believe one of those little toothies was still in. I gave him some toilet paper and told him to pull (he wouldn't let me near it). Out it came!! He was pretty excited, had to call his dad at work, and carried it with him all morning. Now we just have to work on that second tooth...

Father's and Sons Campout

This weekend was the annual campout for the boys from church. Damon and Tommy were super excited for days. I was so ready for them to actually leave because all day long I was getting asked if it was time to go yet. As soon as Barrett showed up from work, they were helping load everything into the car as fast as they could...they were so helpful! They seemed to have a pretty great time with their dad, their friends, eating hot dogs and s'mores, and playing in a big hole with sticks and dirt. I had a pretty great time too with friends, eating chinese food, chatting the night away, then watching some fun shows on YouTube that I can only watch when there is no husband around (he's not into them), and sleeping-in a little, and roaming Target in the morning. It was fun for everyone!!

Dover Days!!

Our fun little town happens to be the capitol of the state:) Every year, the first weekend in May we have Dover Days. There are all kinds of festivities. Friday night we met up with friends to see the fireworks over Legislative Hall. The boys had so much fun!

Saturday is the Parade down State Street. We love it! The state governor, city mayor, and others are all decked out in colonial attire. People throw candy...and the boys love it! They also get plastered with political candidate stickers and other fun goodies. This year we even got a beach ball:) And, we got to see the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile...apparently it came all the way from Wisconsin just for the Dover Days parade.

After the parade, we go down to The Green and Legislative Mall where there are fun colonial period games, presentations, plus food vendors and other craft booths and such. The boys liked throwing the egg into the shoe. They also liked to see how strong they were in this fun physics demonstration of the pulley system. It was pretty fascinating.

There is also May Pole dancing. I thought Damon's preschool class was participating in May Pole dancing, but found out they were just having a little program near the May Poles. All the boys were to wear black pants, white shirts, and cute hats. They looked so cute. They even sang really well.

Since it was technically Cinco de Mayo also, we had tacos and chips and salsa with some friends for dinner that night. Damon has gotten really good at riding his bike this week that he was able to ride over to our friends house. He loved it! We had a great weekend!
