My Little Snow Eagle

We woke up to snow covering the ground and hearing on the radio that practically the whole world is closed down. Since Barrett has his last final tomorrow, he's studying close by at the library and we didn't have to venture out to the train station to get him to Philadelphia. I thought Damon needed his dad to take him out in the snow before he left. I remembered my friend gave me a little snowsuit. I pulled it out and stuffed Damon in it. I guess little boys aren't considered Snow Bunnies, but Snow Eagles. Ha ha ha. He looked 30 pounds heavier, but oh so cute! Here's a couple photos of my Snow Eagle.

My Boys

I LOVE my boys! Yesterday, Valentine's Day, I had lots of little moments where I realized how much I love my 2 boys: Damon Barrett Edwards Number 4 and 5! The Fifth is such a sweet, cute boy. Lately he loves to make little nests out of all his blankets. I was in the kitchen and kept poking my head out to see what he was doing and watched him carry blanket by blanket to his nest. It is so cute. After Barrett got Damon's jammies on him, he wanted to be read to. And not just sitting on someone's lap. He wanted to lay down on the pillows with Barrett showing him the book. How cute! I had one of those most special mommy moments last night too. We always sing a little song to Damon and get kisses from him before putting him in his bed. He's not too much of a cuddler, but I was holding him and he put his little arms around my neck and squeezed while we were singing. He hugged me!! It was so precious and made us cry:)
Barrett is my other Love. There are many times he drives me crazy, but I'm realizing those are the things that make me love him even more. Like when he decides he wants to make yummy meat for Valentine's Day dinner and spends hours researching recipes, then has dreams in his sleep about it, and even talks me into getting a special cast iron skillet for his creation--good thing it wasn't only on sale, but on clearance! He spent hours making a DVD of pictures and music of our lives together so far. How lucky I am to have him!

So, I have 2 more loves:) Jack Johnson and Josh Groban. Jack just came out with a new CD--of course we had to run out and buy it--Wal-Mart special! Good stuff. I love the way his music is just so "chill" and fun. Some songs have awesome words that make me happy like the song on my playlist-Better Together- from a previous CD. Barrett and I have it as our motto now: We're Better Together:) Now on to Joshy-poo. I love the clearity in Josh Groban's voice and feel very enriched when I hear his music. I put a song from his NOEL CD, that I really enjoyed this Christmas, on my playlist. Some of the words are a little weird, but some are very beautiful--just like his voice;) Kim tells me I would love Michael Buble too, but I have yet to fully experience his music.

New Shoes, NO Shirts, Poor Service

I was on a hunt this week for little Damon shoes. Where in the world do people find shoes for little tikes? I checked Wal-Mart and Target in the past, and tried about 4 or 5 different stores this week until I finally found some shoes under 20 bucks that fit Damon's "high instep" (aka: wide, fat, thick, brick-like feet). The bummer part for me is that there are 3 straps of velcro per shoe and Damon loves to unstrap them in the car, so then I have to make sure they're all correctly strapped--at least I don't have to tie little laces like before:)
On Monday I was doing my usual laundry of a white load and a dark load. I was about to go check to see if the dryer was finished when I heard someone go into the laundry room (our apartment is right next to the laundry room). Trying to avoid an akward situation of me pulling out laundry and them loading their dirty laundry, I waited. I realized that it was the cleaning crew that comes in to vacuum the stairs in the building and take out the trash in the laundry room. When they headed upstairs, I zipped in to unload the dryers. I dumped both loads on the bed and started folding. When I was putting clothes away, I realized I couldn't find my sweatpants. I looked everywhere! That night I told Barrett I thought the cleaning people stole my sweatpants. During this conversation I realized I was missing my new long sleeved black shirt as well as my Delaware shirt Barrett gave me when we were engaged. We couldn't believe it. Mixed emotions of being bummed that my clothes were gone forever and the person who took them must have really needed them considering my sweatpants were probably 4 years old. I was going to call management to tattle, but just couldn't do it. I hope the person really needed them. Also, I had taken my jeans out earlier to line dry--thank goodness because they're my only pair that fit! I was also a little weirded out when I realized the person had to rummage around through my clothes to find something they wanted. Kinda gross.
So, on the back cover of the December Reader's Digest magazine, there was this really racey ad for Dove products. Basically the lady was naked. I threw it away. At my parents house, Damon took the magazine up to my dad with that ad facing up. I ripped the back cover off. My dad had ordered the magazine in large print for his office and we were horrified when we thought that ad was full size sitting in his waiting room--thankfully, Reader's Digest had put another back cover on. Anyway, I was really, really bugged by this ad so decided to write Dove and express my disappointment in their poor judgment. I also wrote Reader's Digest and another magazine I saw the same ad in. Well, Dove wrote back and gave me a really bad response that didn't address my concerns at all. Here it is:
Hello ,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

The Pro-Age advertising campaign is about celebrating women 50+ and
widening the definition of beauty to show that real beauty has no age
limit. Our goal was to feature beautiful women as they really are -
with self-confidence, age spots wrinkles and grey hair.

The advertising campaign is certainly not about nudity, but rather about
honesty. The statement we clearly wanted to make is that it is time to
stop hiding and covering signs of aging and be proud to look our age. We
didn't want to cover these women or enhance their appearances, because
they are beautiful just as they are. We believe it was necessary to show
skin, age spots, wrinkles and grey hair to show women that they are
stunning at any age. There is no shying away, concealing or retouching,
as Pro-Age represents honest beauty.

Please be assured we will share your comments with our Brand Manager.

I am realizing just how hard it is to "stamp out pornography"--but feel it is important to let these companies know we won't stand for it.

On a happier note....here's a picture of Damon. He brought his BYU sweatshirt up to me one day to put on him. Then he went over and pulled Barrett's BYU hat down. I couldn't resist and pulled out his BYU football and tried to get some shots. Such a cutie! Also, every morning when Barrett's eating breakfast, Damon HAS to sit on his lap for some bites of cereal.
It is so cute!

New!!

So, as you can tell, my blog template is new. I did it!! I've been noticing that other people have super cute blogs instead of the templates blogspot offers. I asked around and thanks to Erin and her new friends in New York, I used instructions on how to create this cute blog. It makes me want to change it each day like I change clothes:) I really want to use my cute fonts that I have, but need to do a little more research on that one.
Second new thing today (yes it is only 10 in the morning--pretty productive day so far). I received a "starter" for Amish Friendship Bread last Monday. I have been cultivating it and this morning was able to finish it off and make some yummy bread. It turned out amazing!!
Now, that in itself is a miracle. For those of you who have visited my place or heard me complain, you know my oven is awful. It doesn't regulate temperature very well and despite the numerous complaints to manangement, is still in our apartment in less than working order. We had to buy an oven thermometer to help us out. One of my goals in life is to be a really good cookie maker and I feel my oven is totally hindering my dreams:) Anyway, for some crazy reason, the bread cooked normal and turned out so good!! Now, I just have to figure out what to do with the couple of bags of "starters" I have sitting on my counter.
