Week outside
This is the view to the right coming out of our development. I absolutely love seeing this each day!
We have been enjoying attending the library's story times a couple times each week. On Tuesday they read books about cows, then had a little calf there for the children to pet. Poor baby got attacked, but it sure was fun to see a little cow...Damon touched it a few times and thought it was pretty neat.
We have an apple orchard within a few miles of our house. They sell lots of yummy apples, produce, cider, and donuts, but the best discovery was their "seconds". I counted at least 65 and it was all for $6!!!! There was only a handful that I chose that had a few bruises. They taste really good and we've already eaten a bunch, made apple crisp, and we're making a pie today! (Damon took the 2nd apple picture)
Tommy has been working on more teeth. He was being super cute at the park the other day, so we tried to get his toothy smile in a picture. He has 2 1/2 bottom teeth and 1 1/2 top teeth:)
We went to the temple Saturday. Damon had a fun time walking around, walking up steps, finding acorns, and seeing Angel Moroni. He even took some pictures (like the ones of Tommy and then me)

Saturday Activities
We've been enjoying the reality of having Saturdays to do things...with no school or studying to worry about, we have free time!! We went to "Safety Day" last Saturday(Barrett had agreed to help out with the church's booth), so Damon was able to sit in a fire truck and pretend to drive...we even got free Jake's burgers! This weekend we went to a beach house. We enjoyed browsing the outlets, eating out for breakfast, walking the beach boardwalk that I never knew existed these 5 whole years, playing in the sand at the beach, and enjoying a nice day. Damon loved "driving" all the little toys outside the outlet stores and on the boardwalk. Tommy experienced sand for the first time...he loved grabbing fist-fulls and kicking in it, eventually it ended up in his mouth. Later that evening, Kim and Nathan came to watch the BYU game with Barrett. We had fun with them, like always, despite the outcome of the game.

C-U-T-E!
This week:
We were on our way home from Wal-Mart and were going to go to Arby's drive thru. Damon kept asking to sit inside the food place. We were trying to tell him no and giving him reasons. We told him we had ice cream and it would melt if we took time to eat inside. He finally said to us, "I know, we go home and put the ice cream in the freezer, then we can eat inside the food place." We thought that was some pretty good problem solving skills! We drove down this neat road with lots of trees. Damon said,"Ooh, spooky forrest."
The Honeymoon is over
Yep, we've been in our home 2 weeks now and the honeymoon stage is definitely over. The first few days we were soooooo excited to be in all this space. It seemed totally awesome. Now, 2 weeks later, we're still excited to have the space but not some of the things that have come along with it.
1. Stairs. Lots and lots of stairs. I guess we're gonna have good glutes and calves.
2. 2.5 bathrooms to clean. I absolutely love cleaning the boys' tub...I'm pretty sure there will be no grime I can't get, it is such a smooth lined tub. The master shower is horrible to clean! It is a shower, not a tub/shower and has those opaque walls that take forever to wipe down.
3. Our phone line doesn't work. We can call out, but can't get calls in, unless the phone is hooked up to the verizon box outside! Guess we'll just be using our cell phones.
4. Grass. Barrett has to use the "lawn blower" to cut the grass. I'm pretty sure he doesn't really mind doing it, but still.

5. Neighbors. Since we're in a duplex, our garages are next to each other with one driveway. We still don't know who lives there, it seems that there are lots of cars and different people in and out, but at least they're not too noisy...and they have 3 kids, I think.
6. MICE! On Monday afternoon, I watched a little mouse hop into my church bag that was sitting on the kitchen floor.
The next night I was up late with Tommy. I went down to the kitchen to get motrin, and on the way up the stairs, I passed a mouse who was hopping down the stairs. There was one more sighting in the kitchen while Barrett was getting mouse traps at the store. We've only caught one this morning...pretty gross with blood all over the floor.
Sometimes I just get creeped out when doing the dishes and have to stand on something so one doesn't run across my toes.
I feel like this is a trial run. We basically have all the responsibilities of owning a home without actually owning one. I'm learning all the things I like and don't like in a home, so maybe one day, if we can afford to build our own, I'll have it all figured out!
We really do enjoy our place and are almost all settled in. I love having a double sink in the kitchen, a digital thermostat, a working oven (we've made 2 batches of cookies, brownies, and cupcakes already!!!), a neighborhood with a sidewalk to take the boys on walks, and lots and lots of windows to lighten up the place! We're also 2.8 miles to Barrett's work. He calls me on his way home and 6 minutes later, he's home!!! We have a little more freedom. No more train schedules to worry about, no more setting an alarm, and no more worries of always having to study. Yesterday I had to be somewhere at 8:45 near Barrett's office and it was pouring rain. Instead of me dropping him off, he just waited with the kids in the car while I ran in, then he went to work. It is nice to have more flexibility!

We Moved!
Well, we moved! We've been here a week now and are still trying to get things put away and organized. The boys have been enjoying the new place, but have been extra needy and grouchy too. Barrett's trying to get used to the working world and is realizing he needs a hobby. I am loving him only being 6 minutes or so away, plus all the space in our townhome! The move went pretty well. We had so much help from awesome friends in the ward that made packing the truck go so quick...some even drove an hour to help us unload. I actually never really had to lift a box. Kim saved the day...weekend. She was sooooo helpful! She even unpacked my kitchen for me:) Nathan helped us organize our furniture and even bought us dinner! We are sure lucky to have them so close:)

We went to the beach today. It was a perfect beach day and we had a nice few hours eventhough Tommy was running a fever and Damon decided he was afraid of the water. On the way home he told me, "I'm not afraid of the sand beach, or the pool." Well, can't say that I blame him...I have a little ocean phobia myself:)
