Spring Weekend

We spent Friday morning at the Pediatrican's office trying to help Tommy feel better. He has an ear infection, and has been struggling a litte to breathe. We were sent home with a nebulizer and two different perscriptions. During Tommy's nap time Damon and I were able to play Go Fish! Damon had to "go fish" and as he pulled out a card, he yelled, "BOO-YAH!!" We enjoyed the park in the afternoon, a hot dog dinner, then a family date night. The boys absolutely loved going to look at plants at Home Depot and running around. They loved Cold Stone as well...we could barely get a bite in as Damon was devouring it all! Saturday morning we made strawberry jam, then played outside with Meagan and Rhone. Damon wanted to plant something, but was ok with just pouring water into the dirt to make a mud puddle. The little boys loved it! Barrett spent the day at a Scout training, so when he came home, he was ready to play outside. We played a little whiffle ball and Damon totally pegged my arm with a ball which left a welt. Even Tommy had a couple swings at bat. Instead of making dinner, we went for a trike ride/walk. We ended up having waffles for dinner and couldn't keep them coming fast enough. Between Tommy and Damon, we barely got any bites in ourselves. Since it was the first day of Spring...we went to get free Rita's!! We met up with our friends and enjoyed our tasty treats!! Happy Spring!

St. Patty's Day!

This year Damon and I wanted to do something fun for St. Patty's Day. We decided we wanted to have a "green" party where everything is green. The plans evovled into a St. Patty's Day Party/dinner. We had a vegetable lasagna (which wasn't very green or Irish, but sure tasty), broccoli and dip, a fruit rainbow. Then Meagan brought over some green lemon-lime drink and a pot of gold (squash...way creative!). We had pistachio pudding dessert later. While we were eating dinner, some leprachauns snuck into our house and hid some of their treasure. Damon loved finding it and all the boys enjoyed opening up their treasure boxes to see what was inside. What a fun reason to have friends over and do somthing fun!

For Grandma

Grandma requested some photos of Damon.
We've played a lot outside this week with all the nice weather. We've gone to the park a few times, played in the sand, some of us have eaten handfuls of sand, played soccer, run and run until little legs couldn't run anymore, played with bubbles, dug in the dirt, face planted in the mud, and enjoyed the fresh air. Tommy got a tick after one of our outside adventures. Damon asked, "What kind of bug is that?" Me: a tick. Damon: is it going to tickle Tommy? Uh, no. We try not to let Tommy play with our library books. One day, Damon lined them all up on the couch so Tomsters couldn't reach them. He's been into drawing the last 2 weeks or so and is getting pretty creative. We are running out of spiral notebooks...maybe Grandma will have to bring more from my teaching box that I left in the basement the next time we see her. Damon has also been experimenting with emotions. He's figured out how to cry at the drop of a hat and is now working on making himself laugh. I can usually get him to laugh, really laugh, at almost anything, but he's trying it himself these days. Tommy is into mimicking, so it works on him!

What a Week!

This last week has been interesting. I got a call from our new pediatrician's office to finally bring the boys in for their check ups. I walked out of there without really knowing their stats...I'm a little upset about that. Tommy is about 23 pounds and 29 inches tall and received 4 shots!! Damon is just under 40 inches tall and about 37 pounds (we think) and recieved one shot but acted like he got 20! The next day we enjoyed going to a playgroup and hanging out. Barrett and I were watching Psych when Damon woke up crying...he was soaked, so Barrett changed him. Then towards the end of the show, Damon threw up! And then again later. So, he and Barrett camped out in front of the tv that night. We vetoed the Dr. Seuss story time the next morning and after lunch, Damon threw up again. Silly me thought it was a side affect of his vaccine. We lugged the boys to Activity Days and mutual that night. Damon threw up a little after breakfast, so I decided I needed to call someone. While waiting for the nurse to call me back, I called my doctor brother. Basically, Damon had a little stomach bug. We took it easy that day and made little leprecauns (from Family Fun). I also taught Damon how to make a rainbow. He picked it up pretty quickly.
We've finally received some sunshine and are lovin' it!! We went to the park Saturday. Tommy loved exploring and climbed up a slide all by himself! Damon loved rolling down the hill. On the way home he said,"what are these green things on my pants?" I had to explain what grass stains were. After lunch, he enjoyed a trike ride through the neighborhood, singing at the top of his lungs!
On Sunday, I was given a new calling and released from Activity Days. It was rough taking the boys since Barrett had to be with the Young Men. Now I have to teach the 16 year olds...which is only like 2 kids.
Today we enjoyed a park with Meagan and Rhone...it was pretty warm!

For the record:
At 14 months...It seems like Tommy is doing a few new things every day. He has started signing "please" while hissing. He folds his arms when we do, he rubs his hands when he sees me put on lotion, he tries to brush his hair with the brush, he loves to tackle Damon and wrestle with him, he loves to play and explore, he loves to flip through books and have you read to him, he loves dumping out toys from buckets, he loves to eat and eat, he has to have his mouth full to the max or else he screams, he loves to eat snacks at the little table, he has started really playing with little cars and watching the wheels move, he loves to watch tv in the most uncomfortable positions, he likes to stomp his feet, he loves being outside, and today he blew Barrett a kiss this morning when he left. It is so fun seeing Tommy grow and develop and we sure love him. I keep looking at pictures of this time last year...these boys sure have grown.
At 3 years and 2 months...Damon is potty trained...except for number two. He gets himself dressed in the morning and only has a matching problem. He knows backwards and forwards. He is learning responsibility by doing his job of putting away the silverware (practicing sorting/matching)...he complains a lot, but I remind him all the jobs he doesn't have to do! He's learning to put his finished plate/cup in the sink. He is a really fast runner with pretty good form. He thinks he can do cartwheels. He has no concept of sharing or playing by himself. He loves projects and adventures. He loves when you give him important things to do like remember things to get at the store. He loves reading with mom or dad. He has really started drawing recognizable pictures this week. He knows all his letters and we're working on the sounds. He can count into the twenties, but skips 13. He likes to sing. He loves attention from people he knows. He told the Doctor he wanted to be "a dork" when he grew up. He loves to tease everyone! He has the cutest smile. He tries our patience, but we sure love this one too:)

My boys aren't really snugglers when they're little. Tommy has had short naps lately and loves snuggling for a little bit when he wakes up. I can't get enough of it!! I think this particular day he snuggled with me for like an hour. Damon took this picture:)
